Hi, I'm Cho Works.
I have run a small company for ten years. There was always too much work, and IT was always last in line. Friends who run their own businesses would say, "But you were always good with computers." True. What I never told them was that I hadn't touched my own company website in almost ten years.
Why this blog got wider
This place started as a record of changing how I work with AI. I finished a website migration I had put off for years in two days, and cut quote delivery from a full day to five minutes. Writing those stories, I realized what I actually wanted to keep was not AI itself, but everything AI let me pick up again with my own hands.
So the scope is widening: software problems I got stuck on, machines I have used for years, books and questions, and the everyday life of running a small company. AI stays, as the tool I reach for most often.
What's on my desk
My automation runs on a Mac mini from 2011 with 16 GB of RAM, fifteen years old. It runs Linux. Windows lives in a single virtual machine, only for banking and government sites.
After hopping between note apps for years, I now write notes in plain text files. Not pretty, but they never disappear. A tool that still opens in ten years beats a clever one.
There are technical books on my shelf I never finished. These days I ask before I read and open only the chapters I need. I'm relearning the Socratic method, two and a half thousand years late, with AI as the other side of the conversation.
What I write about
- Software: things I got stuck on, and how I got unstuck
- Gadgets: old machines, new machines, and why I kept them
- AI: experiments, failures, and getting better at it
- Work: lessons from running a small company
- Thinking: learning, questions, and reading
- Life: how I spend a day
What I hold myself to
I only write about what I have tried. Wins and wrong turns both stay on the page. Numbers are ones I measured.
Some images on this site may be generated with AI.
